Lichtgewicht, bijzondere lijnen en mooie vorm. Vijf sterren als ‘ie waterdicht zou zijn!

Fits right into my interior

The vase is well made and I absolutely love it. Shipping took a little longer than expected: just over a week before arriving at my home in London. Other than that, I would buy another Hundred Layers product.

FAQ

We use a natural material (with a complicated name) called polylactic acid, or PLA. This plastic is bioderived from corn starch and recycled PET bottles. The color Natural Oak is blended with natural wood particles. Our recycled PLA is sourced from a consistent stream of food packaging waste, collected by a leading recycler in the Benelux region. For every kg of PLA, the equivalent of 79 plastic bottles is repurposed.

In order to use as little material and energy as possible in the production of our pieces, we work with the most modern production processes. This includes additive manufacturing, better known as 3D printing. Corn starch is used as raw material, and therefore no petroleum is used. The lack of fossil fuels and lower air pollution in production mean it certainly has a place in the future of materials. It takes little over seven hours to produce a Liquid vase.

Yes, all vases can be recycled. PLA can be 100% degraded under the right circumstances in terms of humidity, pressure and temperature. This has to be done professionally. If PLA is thrown away with regular household waste, all benefits are lost. Throwing things away – regardless of whether they are suited to be recycled – should always be the last resort.

Originally, the vases are intended for silk and dried flowers, because these flowers are way friendlier to the environment. Therefore, the Liquid is not waterproof. If you do want the option to use fresh flowers, you can add the separately available waterproof sleeve.

The Liquid vase is best combined with something subtle. If you desire something bigger, the Rise vases are perfect for you.

When using a larger bunch of flowers, most people place some play sand or bird sand on the bottom of their vase, to weigh it down.
