We use a material (with a complicated name) called polypropylene, or PP. This plastic is known for its waterproof and water-resistant characteristics. Today, polypropylene is one of the top sellers in the plastics industry. It’s used for everything from campaign signs to shopping bags. Aside from being waterproof, polypropylene is extremely flexible, lightweight, durable, and resistant to chemical corrosion.
In order to use as little material and energy as possible in the production of our pieces, we work with the most modern production processes. This includes additive manufacturing, better known as 3D printing. It takes between 1.5 and 3 hours to produce a sleeve, depending on the model of the vase.
Polypropylene is recyclable. It can be separated from other plastic types, melted into a liquid, cooled, and turned into pellets, then used to form new plastics. Throwing things away – regardless of whether they are suited to be recycled – should always be the last resort.
Originally, the vases are intended for silk and dried flowers, because these flowers are way friendlier to the environment. Therefore, the vases are not waterproof. If you do want the option to use fresh flowers, you can add the separately available waterproof sleeve.
